What is Reddit MCP?
The Reddit MCP server gives AI agents access to Reddit. That means agents can browse and monitor subreddits, search posts across all of Reddit or within a community, discover relevant subreddits, read threaded comment trees, look up user profiles, and publish text posts and comments. It works across Reddit’s core building blocks (subreddits, posts, comments, and users), so an AI agent can research conversations and take part in them.
If you spend time scrolling subreddits for brand mentions, copying threads into a doc to analyze sentiment, or manually posting updates and replies, an AI agent can take over a lot of that work. Describe what you need, and your AI agent will monitor Reddit and respond for you.
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It’s an open standard that gives AI agents a way to connect to external tools and services. Reddit requires each workspace to use its own Reddit app, so you create one in Reddit’s app settings and paste the client ID and secret into Gumloop once. From there Gumloop handles the OAuth flow and token refreshes, and you work with Reddit just by asking your AI agent in plain language.
What you can do with Reddit MCP on Gumloop
Browse and monitor subreddits
Fetch the hottest, newest, top, controversial, or rising posts from any subreddit, with sort and size controls. Keep an eye on the communities that matter to you without refreshing the page.
Search across all of Reddit
Run full-text search across all of Reddit or scoped to a single subreddit, filtered by time range (last hour, day, week, month, year, or all time) and sorted by relevance, top, hot, new, or comment count. Ideal for brand monitoring and market research.
Discover relevant subreddits
Search for communities by name (prefix or exact match) or by description (full-text), with NSFW and ad filters. Find the right places to listen or post before you engage.
Publish and manage text posts
Create text posts in any subreddit your connected account can post in, then edit or delete them after publishing. (Note that the server creates text posts, but not links, images, videos, or polls.)
Comment and reply in threads
Add comments to a post or reply to an existing comment in a thread, and edit or delete your comments. An AI agent can join the conversation, not just read it.
Read threaded comment trees
Pull a post’s comments with their full nested reply structure, author info, scores, and edit status. Perfect for AI-driven sentiment analysis and conversation monitoring.
Look up user profiles
Search for Reddit users and retrieve profile metadata like link and comment karma, account age, and verification or mod status. Useful for community research and influencer discovery.
Get deep post insights
Retrieve full details on any post: score, upvote ratio, media and gallery data, domain, and NSFW, spoiler, locked, or stickied flags.

Reddit MCP use cases
Brand and competitor monitoring for marketers
An AI agent can search across Reddit for mentions of your product, your competitors, or a category, filtered to the last day or week, summarize the sentiment and standout threads, and post a digest to Slack. Marketing teams catch conversations as they happen instead of finding them weeks later.
Community engagement for community managers
Monitor your subreddit for new posts and questions, have an AI agent draft on-brand replies for review, and publish approved comments or text updates. Community managers stay responsive without living in their inboxes.
Audience and market research for researchers
Discover the subreddits where your audience actually hangs out, pull threaded discussions on a topic, and let an AI agent analyze themes, objections, and language people use. A faster path from researching "What do people think?" to a written summary.
Trend detection and content ideas
Use time-filtered search to spot posts gaining traction in a niche over the last hour or day, and have an AI agent surface emerging topics each morning. Get a steady feed of content ideas, grounded in what’s actually resonating with Reddit users.
Cross-platform social listening
Combine Reddit with other MCP tools: log mentions to a Google Sheet, route hot threads to Slack, or fold Reddit signal into a report alongside X, TikTok, and YouTube. Reddit then becomes one of many inputs in your wider social listening engine.
Why use Gumloop for Reddit MCP
Guided Reddit app setup, no token juggling
Building your own Reddit MCP server means registering a Reddit app and then writing code to handle the OAuth flow, token storage, and refreshes. With Gumloop you only do the part Reddit requires: create a Reddit app and paste in the client ID and secret. Gumloop walks you through it, then runs the OAuth flow and refreshes your access token automatically.
Works with multiple MCP clients
Use the Reddit MCP server endpoint in Claude Desktop, Cursor, or directly inside Gumloop. Same server URL, works with any MCP client.
Chain Reddit with 100+ other integrations
Combine Reddit with Slack, Google Sheets, X, and other MCP tools in a single AI agent. Pull conversations from Reddit, analyze them with an LLM, and route the results to wherever your team works.
Enterprise-grade and scalable
Built for teams, with role-based permissions and dedicated support for Pro users. The Reddit MCP respects your connected account’s permissions, so agents only do what your account is allowed to.
Start with a free trial
You can test the Reddit MCP integration during Gumloop’s 14-day free trial before committing. Paid plans start at $37/month.
